I am not stranger to lessons on the principles of evolution. From AP Biology to BIOL 180 to just about every other macro-level biology course, I have covered how populations and species evolve and change over time. This being the case, I found BIOL 354 somewhat repetitive, adding only a little depth to the classic evolutionary lesson plans. I was able to appreciate, however, Professor Herron's emphasis on experimentation and data interpretation as it relates to large-scale biological processes. Many of our test questions involved looking at a graph and then using evolutionary principles to explain the results, as well as to critique the experimenter's methods if they did anything that could confound the results. It was certainly not a new activity for me in the field of biology, but it was refreshing to do it in a different context rather than the molecular world in which I normally live.
