I will never get old of biology where we read scientific papers and discuss them to learn about the ongoing advancements in cell biology. That's exactly what this seminar was, specifically looking at papers related to asymmetric cellular division. We took an in-depth look at ten papers throughout the quarter, and each taught us a lot about research techniques, new findings, and just dissecting the literature. Most excitingly, Professor Cabernard organized two class sessions in which we video-called one of the authors for the paper of each week and got to ask them questions about their research. This was immensely helpful to me as I aspire to being a researcher. While I thought asymmetric cellular division might be too niche of a topic to be that interesting, it was the perfect focal point for learning how to figure out research on topics that science has a hard time completely understanding.
