Probability continued to impress me this quarter with the depth to which it reaches. We had to invoke multiple other areas of mathematics, including multivariable calculus, number theory, and real analysis to understand much of the material, and this made the applicability of probability that much more apparent and encompassing. We used advanced probability to model a wide range of real-world situations and estimate complex problems without otherwise valid solutions. Most of all, I realized how helpful probability modeling could be to me as a biologist, since statistics, molecular dynamics, and other unknown factors could be easily elucidated upon by using probability.
