This class presented a small menagerie of topics that don't all fit under one umbrella. Beginning with harmonic motion, then general waves, light, lenses/mirrors, and finally work-outputting engines, While I had low hopes for the course, it turned out to be really interesting and helped me to build a better model of how I see the physical world. This being the last introductory class I will likely take at UW, I came to the realization that these "weed-out" classes often do a really good job at presenting big picture ideas that lay the foundations for future coursework, even if they generally tend to get a bad reputation from students. The concepts presented in this class, though oftentimes specific, did well to illustrate the basic workings of light, energy, and matter. I also very much appreciated Professor Pedigo's enthusiasm throughout the entire quarter, which made lectures much more engaging.
